Code of Conduct

    BSides Atlanta Code of Conduct

Our “Code of Conduct” is “Be Excellent to Each Other” AKA the Golden Rule.

We have NO TOLERANCE for physical/verbal/sexual harassment of any person. Any person found to be harassing another person will be required to leave the conference.

Asking questions of a speaker during their talk, to get clarity or debate a point is appropriate—heckling or haranguing the speaker is not appropriate. If you are concerned that something you say may fall under the umbrella of harassment, then please do not speak those words aloud. Harassment is in the perception of the person being harassed. If someone asks you to stop — stop.

Changing, hacking, or in any way interfering with conference or event venue’s information systems, assets, or infrastructure without express permission by conference staff is a CoC violation that may result in immediate expulsion from this year’s event as well as a ban from future events.

If you are having an issue with a BSides Atlanta participant of ANY badge type, please find a BSides Atlanta organizer, and that person will assist you in resolving the issue.

All terms of the CoC apply equally to sponsors and their representatives and attendees. Sponsors’ failure to abide by the CoC may result in the sponsor and/or their attendees being ejected from the conference and be denied future sponsorship opportunities.

In the end it is the responsibility of us, the organizers of BSides Atlanta, to define bad behavior. If you are engaging in bad behavior (e.g. heckling or haranguing speakers), you will be given a warning that your behavior is not acceptable. If you continue, you will be asked to leave or, if the behavior is particularly egregious, you may be immediately ejected from the conference and proper authorities notified.
